Abstract
Published flight data for boundary-layer transition at hypersonic speeds ar e surveyed. The survey is limited to measurements reported in the open lite rature and carried out at hypersonic and high-supersonic speeds, on vehicle s for which ablation is believed to be negligible or small. The emphasis is on work that may he suitable for validation of advanced transition-estimat ion methods that are based on simulation of the physical mechanisms, such a s e(N), the parabolized stability equations, and direct numerical simulatio ns. Brief discussions are presented for each report. Known comparisons to t he advanced simulation methods are also presented.
