Abstract
The stability of homogeneous phase separation in finite solids containing p lanar, cylindrical, or spherical interfaces is investigated analytically. E xplicit stability conditions are deduced for each interface geometry. It is shown how the interaction of load (force or displacement), material proper ties of the phases, and interface properties jointly determine the stabilit y of the interface separation process.
