Abstract
From 1 April 1995 to 31 March 1997, 50 people presented to Townsville Gener al Hospital with injuries caused by ceiling fans. Injuries ranged from graz es to compound skull fractures, and seven patients required admission to ho spital for ongoing treatment. Most of these injuries could have been avoide d. Current safety guidelines for the use of ceiling fans are inadequate.
