The beta-decay of Ti-40 and Ca-35 have been studied at the LISE3 spectromet
er at GANIL. The decay schemes were deduced from the observed beta-delayed
proton and gamma emission of Ti-40 and Ca-35 into the ground and first exci
ted states of Ca-39 and Ar-34, respectively. The Gamow-Teller strength func
tion B(GT) of the Ti-40 beta-decay, extracted from the beta-decay branching
ratios and the precisely measured Ti-40 half-life, provides for the first
time an experimental calibration of the neutrino detection efficiency for t
he ICARUS solar neutrino detector.
