Abstract
The effect of lithium doping on microstructure development and phase transi tion of CoO was investigated. In the first stage of sintering lithium dopin g increased the compact densification rate by Li2O evaporation. Then, with increasing sintering process, grain growth being faster in lithiated sample s than in pure cobalt oxide, LixCo1-xO sintered less rapidly than undoped c obalt oxide. Lithium doping also stabilised CoO against transition from roc k salt to spinel phase.
