Abstract
An experimental system is presented which allows the observation of vibrati onal energy relaxation with sub-picosecond time resolution. The system uses mid-infrared pulses tunable between 4000 cm(-1) and 2500 cm(-1) to excite vibrational modes and anti-Stokes Raman probing with sensitive multichannel detection to record the vibrational excitation. A high temporal resolution (width of the instrumental response function) better than 200 fs is realiz ed. (C) 1999 Published by Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
