Abstract
A short-range force constant model has been applied to investigate the phon ons in YMnO3 perovskite in the orthorhombic phase. The calculations with si x stretching and two bending force constants provide a satisfactory agreeme nt for the available Raman and infrared frequencies. Based on the present c alculations, the infrared frequencies have been assigned for the first time . (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
