Abstract
Experimental benchmark results for the differential cross section and sever al spin asymmetries are presented for elastic electron scattering from Cs a toms at an energy of 3 eV. Comparison with predictions from several nonrela tivistic, semirelativistic, and fully relativistic theoretical models empha sizes the need for the development of a numerical approach that accounts bo th fur relativistic effects and for coupling between a large number of disc rete and continuum target states.
