Abstract
Magnesium oxide supported polytitazane-platinum complex was prepared and ch aracterized by x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. N/Pt molar ratio, temperat ure and solvent greatly influenced the activity of the catalyst. The comple x with Pt content of 1.75 mmol/g was the most effective catalyst for the ox ygenation of 2-octanol to 2-octanone when diethyl carbonate was used as sol vent. The yield of octanone can amount to 100%, with 100% selectivity withi n 8 hr at 100 degrees C under 1 atm O-2. The catalyst can be recycled for s everal times in the oxygenation reactions without appreciable loss in activ ity. (C) 1999 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
