S. Michail et al., Acute renal failure in an adult patient with Henoch-Schoenlein purpura after episode of macroscopic hematuria, RENAL FAIL, 21(1), 1999, pp. 107-111
A case of severe prolonged acute renal failure with a histological picture
of acute tubulointerstitial lesions in an adult patient with Henoch-Schoenl
ein purpura after apr episode of macroscopic hematuria is described. The ma
croscopic hematuria lasted only for 5 days and the renal biopsy was perform
ed 50 days after the end of the macroscopic hematuria. Restoration of renal
function was not complete six months after the beginning of improvement Fe
wer than 65 cases of acute renal failure due to tubulointerstitial nephriti
s in patients with glomerulonephritis and after episode od macroscopic hema
turia have been described in the international literature. Only one of thes
e patients was suffering from Henoch-Schoenlein purpura.
