Abstract
The importance of accurate chloride determination in the cement industry wa s highlighted in a previous paper(1) in this journal as well as the variabi lity of results obtained using various techniques. This paper describes the continuation of that work and begins with an investigation of a spectropho tometric technique not currently used to determine chloride levels in cemen t and cement-related materials. Various modifications of this method were m ade and the results are compared and evaluated. Furthermore, the chloride c ontent in cement samples with a standard addition of sodium chloride is the n determined by various techniques and this is used to validate some of the methods currently in use and to draw conclusions regarding the most accura te method.
