Abstract
4-Sulfo-2,3,5,6-tetrafluorophenyl (STP) esters of biopolymer-labeling molec ules are shown to be dramatically more water-soluble than the corresponding N-hydroxysuccinimidyl (NHS) esters. These STP eaters are easily synthesize d, and react readily with primary amines to give the same acylation product s as NHS and pentafluorophenyl (PFP) esters. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science Ltd.
