C. Real et al., SYNTHESIS OF SILICON-CARBIDE WHISKERS FROM CARBOTHERMAL REDUCTION OF SILICA-GEL BY MEANS OF THE CONSTANT RATE THERMAL-ANALYSIS (CRTA) METHOD, Solid state ionics, 95(1-2), 1997, pp. 29-32
New Constant Rate Thermal Analysis (CRTA) equipment has been developed
that permits the synthesis of SiC from carbothermal reduction of sili
ca under both constant reaction rate and constant partial pressure of
the CO generated in the reaction. It has been suggested that this meth
od improves the formation of whiskers.
