Abstract
A protocol for extraction of microbial DNA from oil-and grease-saturated so il is reported that can be used to target availability of specific genotype s of bacteria in extensively contaminated soils using the polymerase chain reaction. The methodology developed can be used in the biotreatibility stud ies for in situ bioremediation of hydrocarbon-contaminated sites.
