Abstract
The present study demonstrates that the gamma-hydroxybutyric acid receptor antagonist, NCS-382, markedly reduces blood ethanol levels (BELs) in rats w hen ethanol is administered via the intragastric route, whereas it is compl etely ineffective when ethanol is injected IF. The reducing effect of NCS-3 82 on BELs is likely due to a lessened absorption of ethanol from the gastr ointestinal tract. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science Inc. All rights reserved.
