M. Dunsire et S. Baldwin, Urban-rural comparisons of drink-driving behaviour among late teens: A preliminary investigation, ALC ALCOHOL, 34(1), 1999, pp. 59-64
A preliminary study was conducted to examine the nature and extent of urban
-rural differences in self-reported drinking and driving among youths in We
stern Australia. A total of 102 youths aged 17, 18 and 19 years were survey
ed via a random street sampling technique about their alcohol consumption a
nd drink-driving behaviour. Analyses indicated that urban youths had a sign
ificantly higher level of self-reported drink-driving behaviour than their
rural counterparts. Males indicated a higher level of self-reported drink-d
riving behaviour than females. This article also provides a review and summ
ary of youth drink-driving literature with special focus on urban-rural com
parisons.
