Abstract
Field emission from a rectangular metallic grating is considered, ignoring space-charge effects. It is shown that there is an optimal geometry of the grooves for extraction of maximum current or current density. (C) 1999 Amer ican Institute of Physics. [S0003-6951(99)00408-8].
