Optical, structural and morphological properties of chemical bath deposited
cadmium sulphide, CdS, on different commercial SnO2/glass substrates have
been analysed. Although CdS-SnO2 bilayer optical behaviour is directly dete
rmined by tin oxide characteristics, cadmium sulphide optical features rema
in independent on substrates. CdS covers the layer underneath in a continuo
us and homogeneous way, having a grain size between 100 and 300 nm, depende
nt on substrate morphology. 400 degrees C, 20 min air-annealing treatment h
as produced only a light decrease in the average visible transmission of Cd
S-SnO2 bilayers. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
