Zf. Ding et al., DIFFERENTIAL CYCLIC VOLTABSORPTOMETRY AND CHRONOABSORPTOMETRY STUDIESOF ION TRANSFER-REACTIONS AT THE WATER-VERTICAL-BAR-1,2-DICHLOROETHANE INTERFACE, Journal of electroanalytical chemistry [1992], 420(1-2), 1997, pp. 35-41
The combination of UV-visible absorption spectroscopy and conventional
liquid/liquid electrochemistry is applied to study ion transfer at th
e liquid/liquid interface. Two separate examples of ion transfer are i
nvestigated. Results for Ru(bpy)(3)(2+) and the dianionic form of Eosi
n B transfer from water to 1,2-dichloroethane, obtained using total in
ternal reflection absorption spectroscopy, are presented. The techniqu
es of differential cyclic voltabsorptometry and chronoabsorptometry ar
e investigated and shown both to be specific to individual species and
to produce responses analogous to conventional electrochemistry. A si
mple theory is presented and found to be an accurate description of th
e spectroscopic methodology.
