J. Adamczyk et al., BORON-TREATED MICROALLOYED QUENCHED AND TEMPERED PLATES, THEIR STRUCTURE AND PROPERTIES, Journal of materials processing technology, 64(1-3), 1997, pp. 1-8
An appropriate chemical composition for boron-treated microalloyed ste
el for the production of E890T plates has been elaborated displaying t
he required resistance to fracture and a restricted anisotropy of the
plastic properties at low temperature. Steel melted in an open hearth
furnace, followed by LF technology, proves to warrant the required pro
perties with a low hydrogen content. The heat treatment conditions wer
e tailored to optimize the boron factor and grain size effects of plat
es 10 to 20 mm thick.
