The technology of orbital cold forming of an oxygen cylinder web, made
of austenitic, acid-proof steel, grade 1H18N9T [1,2] is presented. Th
e web is a closure of the oxygen cylinder, which is a part of the oxyg
en respirator used by miner rescue workers in this country and abroad.
Parameters of forging on the press of the type PXW 100AB are given. M
oreover the deformed material has been evaluated, as far as its chemic
al composition, structure and mechanical properties are concerned. Evi
dence was obtained that the worked out method of forging the cylinder
web by orbital pressing eliminates the material-consuming and energy-c
onsuming technology of machining, and warrants such a structure which
provides an absolute reliability of the air-tightness of this oxygen c
ylinder.
