J. Libantova et al., Transgenie tobacco and potato plants expressing basic vacuolar beta-1,3-glucanase from Nicotiana plumbaginifolia, BIOLOGIA, 53(6), 1998, pp. 739-748
Transgenic tobacco and potato plants constitutively overexpressing beta-1,3
-glucanase gene from Nicotiana plumbaginifolia were prepared under the cont
rol of the cauliflower mosaic virus (CaMV) 35S promoter. The introduction o
f N. plumbaginifolia beta-1,3-glucanase gene into the tobacco and potato ge
nome was proven by Southern blot analysis, and the expression of beta-1,3-g
lucanase was detected by Western blotting. The crude protein extracts from
transgenic potato plants were analysed by native cathodic electrophoresis,
using laminarin as a substrate. These plants will be used in resistance ass
ays against Rhizoctonia solani and Fusarium oxysporum in greenhouse tests.
