Mortierella alpina CCF 185 was used for the production of dihomo-gamma-lino
lenic acid (DGLA) in submerged and solid state regime. Under submerged cond
itions, the fungus was cultivated in glucose medium supplemented with sesam
e oil and non-oil acetone extract. Solid state cultivation was carried out
on crushed sesame seeds. The maximal yield of DGLA was 475 mg/L in submerge
d fermentation, and 21.3 g/kg of residual substrate in solid state cultivat
ion.
