Abstract
Titanium-mediated diene metallabicyclisation-elimination-functionalisation has been utilised for the preparation of syn-3,4-disubstituted and syn,syn- 2,3,4-trisubstituted pyrrolidines in high yield and excellent stereoselecti vity; this methodology has been employed in a total synthesis of (-)-alpha- kainic acid starting from L-serine.
