Specific impulse of optimized composite solid propellants (binder plus metal plus oxidizer) as a function of the metal and oxidizer properties

Quantitative correlations determining the dependence of the specific impuls e of optimized composite solid propellants containing a hydrocarbon binder and CHNO oxidizer on the chemical composition and enthalpy on the oxidizer are derived. Formulations with and without additional high-energy component s (Al, Mg, Be, and B) are considered.
