Abstract
Quantum dot electrodes (QDEs) have been constructed by deposition of Q-CdS particles onto indium-tin oxide substrates. Upon application of cathodic po tentials to the electrodes in electrolytes containing persulfate ions (S2O8 2-), light emission is observed. The emission peak depends on the particle size, with electrolyte electroluminescence (EEL) being observed down to 478 nm (blue light) for CdS with a particle size of 3.6 nm.
