Abstract
Microtubule-based motility in the cell is directly associated with changes in microtubule numbers through nucleation and growth and shrinkage of the p olymer from the ends. Recent analysis of spindle pole bodies and kinetochor es in yeast reveal how the cell builds specialized structures for associati on with the ends of microtubules.
