Abstract
Rearrangement of antigen receptors in the immune system is mediated through the action of complex enhancers which function in both a developmentally s tage-specific and a cell-type-specific manner to demethylate DNA, open chro matin structure and tether the recombination machinery to one preferred all ele at each locus.
