Abstract
This article reviews management literature on health care transformation an d describes the processes, including restructuring, job redesign, and downs izing, involved in one academic medical center's experience. The article co ncludes with lessons learned at each of the stages of the transformation pr ocess: planning, implementation, and process continuation, Managerial impli cations for similar transformation efforts in other health care organizatio ns are suggested.
