Abstract
Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) has been notifiable in W estern Australia since 1985. This article reviews the notification data fro m 1994 to 1997, focusing on increases in MRSA notifications and the proport ion that are local strains; changes in the geographical distribution of MRS A; and changes in antibiotic-resistance patterns (Infect Control Hosp Epide miol 1999;20:133-135).
