Abstract
A series of 1-alkyl-2-benzimidazolylaldoximes was synthesized. Total energi es of possible conformers and energetically most favorable ligand structure s were determined by semiempirical quantum-chemical calculations using the PM3 method. Complexation equilibria between aldoximes and Ni(II) and Co(II) ions were studied, and a method for the calculation of stability constants of the MHL2+ and MHL2+ chelates is proposed. Analytical characteristics of the above complexes and their ion pairs with eosin were determined.
