Lack of genetic differentiation between two geographically diverse samplesof Candida albicans isolated from patients infected with human immunodeficiency virus
Jp. Xu et al., Lack of genetic differentiation between two geographically diverse samplesof Candida albicans isolated from patients infected with human immunodeficiency virus, J BACT, 181(4), 1999, pp. 1369-1373
The patterns of genetic variation of samples of Candida albicans isolated f
rom patients infected with human immunodeficiency virus in Durham, N.C., an
d Vitoria, Brazil, were compared. Genotypes for 126 strains were obtained a
t 16 polymorphic restriction sites distributed on nine PCR fragments. The r
esults indicated evidence of clonality both within and between these two ge
ographically diverse samples. The samples are genetically very similar, wit
h little evidence of genetic differentiation.
