Abstract
Seven chain-like trinuclear complexes containing cis-configured central Fe( CN)(2) or Fe(NC)(2) units attached to two peripheral organometallic units c ontaining Fe, Ru, Cr, or Mn have been synthesized. IR spectra and cyclic vo ltammograms allow assessment of their electronic situation. Chemical two-el ectron oxidations were possible for the complexes with Fe(CN-Fe)(2) backbon es. The oxidized complexes give rise to metal-metal charge transfer bands i ndicative of significant metal-metal interactions. Their magnetic susceptib ilities indicate the absence of magnetic coupling between their two unpaire d electrons. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science S.A. All rights reserved.
