Abstract
Phase relations of AgVO3 were studied by crystal structure analysis and the rmal property measurement. Crystal structure of newly defined alpha-AgVO3, was determined by XRD measurements. The structure analyzed is monoclinic [C 2/c(#15)] and the crystal parameters are a = 10.437 Angstrom, b = 9.897 Ang strom, c = 5.532 Angstrom, and beta = 99.69 degrees, alpha-AgVO3 is a metas table phase which can be formed by precipitation at an ambient temperature and/or when it is quenched from its melted state. It is also formed just be low the melting point instantaneously when cooled slowly and frozen quickly . alpha-AgVO3 is irreversibly transformed into beta-AgVO3 at around 200 deg rees C. The beta-phase is molten at 476 degrees C. (C) 1999 Academic Press.
