The title compounds [(2-Me2N)C6H4(Me3Si)CH](2)SiMe2 (1) and {[(2-Me2N)C6H4(
Me3Si)CH]SiMe2}(2) (2) are examples of new sterically crowd ed tetraorganos
ilanes and, respectively. compouds contain two dimethylamino substituted ar
omatic rings as potential donor groups bonded to the carbon and silicon con
taining chains. However, there is no evidence for intra- or intermolecular
N-Si interaction in solution or solid state. No extra symmetry was found fo
r molecule 1 whereas molecule 2 lies about a center of inversion.
