Abstract
The reaction of hydrostannanes and germanes with dihalocarbenes generated f rom haloforms or from sodium trichloroacetate under phase transfer conditio ns was studied. The dihalomethyl trialkyl stannanes and germanes were obtai ned with isolated yield up to 86%.
