Abstract
We report, for what we believe to be the first time, a Ce:LiCAF laser pumpe d by ultraviolet radiation obtained by sum-frequency mixing of the green an d the yellow output from a copper-vapor laser. The 7-kHz pulse repetition f requency free-lasing Ce:LiCAF laser yielded a maximum output power of 530 m W, with a slope efficiency of 32%, from a pump power of 1.9 W.
