Abstract
The magnetic flux distributions in samples consisting of five parallel stri ps of NdBa2Cu3O7-delta thin film arranged in an x-array, were visualized us ing a magneto-optical technique. The external magnetic field was applied pe rpendicular to the surface of each sample held at 40 K. The spatial magneti c flux profiles were also theoretically calculated taking into account the thickness of the sample and the distance between the surface of the sample and the indicator film. The experimental results showed excellent agreement with the calculated flux distribution and showed that for the central stri p, flux penetrates deeper into the strip than for the case of a single isol ated strip. This is due to field compression resulting from the shielding o f the superconducting strips on each side. (C) 1999 Published by Elsevier S cience B.V. All rights reserved.
