Juveniles account for nearly one in five arrests for violent crime. Involve
ment with gangs and weapons are particularly high risk factors for youth vi
olence. Common DSM-TV diagnoses in this population include conduct disorder
, ADHD, depression and PTSD. Juvenile murderers and violent sex offenders r
epresent particularly high-risk subgroups of aggressive youth. Treatments s
hould be matched to the needs of each youth. Intense family and school inte
rvention is recommended.
