Reaction of Pu(VI) with H2O2 in NaOH solutions was studied by spectrophotom
etry. The reaction stoichiometry varies from 1.6 to 2 at 23 degrees C, appr
oaching 2 with increasing [Pu(VI)(0)/[H2O2] and weakly changing at lowering
temperature to 10 degrees C. The rate constant of the above reaction in 2-
4 M NaOH is about 2.5 x 10(2) l mol(-1) s(-1). The reaction mechanism invol
ving the reaction of O-2(-) ion radical with Pu(VI) and H2O2 was considered
