Abstract
The results of structural and phase analyses. microhardness measuremen ts. and wear resistance tests of grey irons implanted with different d oses of nitrogen ions Lire present. The possible mechanisms of the obs erved surface strengthening of iron due to the implantation are consid ered. The effect of the shape of graphite inclusions on the phase form ation in the implanted layer and the properties of irons are studied.
