Various new chiral beta-sulfonamidoalcohols were prepared. The zinc complex
es modified by these chiral ligands alone without the use of titanium tetra
isopropoxide are effective as chiral catalysts for the addition of diethylz
inc to aldehydes to afford secondary alcohols with moderate enantioselectiv
ity.
