Abstract
Exocyclic iminium salts are evaluated as catalysts for alkene epoxidation b y Oxone(R), presumed to proceed via the corresponding oxaziridinium species . Iminium triflate salts derived from pyrrolidine and electron poor aromati c aldehydes were found to be good catalysts. Attempts to prepare chiral var iants of these iminium salts were largely unsuccessful, presumably due to t heir ready hydrolysis. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science Ltd. Ali rights reserved.
