Water samples collected at different stages of a demineralization process w
ere examined after closed loop stripping and analysed by GC-FID and CC-MS.
The results showed a contamination arising from the contact with ion-exchan
ge resins. The quantity and the type of pollutants were different depending
upon the resin bed, cationic or anionic exchanger, but all the examined sa
mples exceeded the limits set according to the normative for the human cons
umption water for various classes of compounds: Alkylparaffns, alkylbenzene
s, alkyltoluenes, aromatic chloro-, and bromoderivatives. (C) 1999 Elsevier
