A cubane-type core has been found in the tetrameric title complex, aqua-l k
appa C-tetrakis(4-chlorobenzoato)-1 kappa C,2 kappa C,3 kappa C,4 kappa C-t
etrakis[mu(3)-(2-dimethylaminoethanolato)-kappa(3)O:O:O]-tetmhedro-tetracop
per(II)hydrate, [Cu-4-(C7H4ClO2)(4)(C4H10NO)(4)(H2O)]. H2O The structure of
the complex molecule is composed of two ethanolate O-bridged dimers, with
Cu-O bond lengths in the range 1.919 (5)-1.979(5) Angstrom, and Cu Cu dista
nces of 2.855 (2) and 2.890 (2) Angstrom. The dimers are bridged into the t
etrameric unit by triply bridging ethanolate O atoms, with Cu-O distances i
n the range 2.417 (5)-2.618 (5) Angstrom. Of the four Cu atoms, three are f
ive-coordinated and one is six-coordinated.
