Abstract
Neural networks an non-algorithmic information processing systems widely us ed for classification and control tasks. The objective of this paper is to analyse their suitability for assessing the behaviour of humans under well defined constraints. Their ability to simulate human behaviour is demonstra ted for the case of landing approaches through low-level wind shear. An in- depth analysis of the network's inner parameters reveals some potential rea sons for an immanent delay of pilot thrust setting responses in wind shear situations. (C) Elsevier, Paris.
