Rl. Lowman, CAREER ASSESSMENT AND PSYCHOLOGICAL IMPAIRMENT - INTEGRATING INTER-DOMAIN AND WORK DYSFUNCTIONS THEORY, Journal of career assessment, 5(2), 1997, pp. 213-224
This article addresses issues of career assessment among individuals w
ith psychological dysfunctions. It integrates the author's inter-domai
n (interest-ability-personality) theory of career assessment (Lowman,
1991) and his theory of work dysfunctions (Lowman, 1993, 1996) for pur
poses of career assessment and counseling with persons experiencing ps
ychological problems. Hypotheses are generated consistent with the int
eraction of the two theories. Specifically, certain psychological cond
itions are predicted to be more commonly associated with particular oc
cupational profiles. Implications for career assessment and counseling
practice are suggested.
