Jf. Maurin et al., Effectiveness and safety of carteolol 0.5% eye drops in the treatment of mild ocular hypertension, ANN OPHTH G, 31(1), 1999, pp. 39-42
To assess the ocular hypotensive effect of carteolol 0.5%, a randomized, do
uble-masked placebo-controlled (vehicle), multicenter study of 2 parallel g
roups was initiated Forty patients with early primary open-angle glaucoma o
r simple mild ocular hypertension were enrolled. The test treatment lasted
2 weeks, with twice daily instillations. The mean decrease in intraocular p
ressure on day 15 was significantly greater in the carteolol 0.5% group: 23
% and 18% (2 and 12 hours post-dose, respectively).
