Abstract
The authors studied bacterial agent transmission in 76 eyes of 76 patients through use of the Goldmann tonometer and the Goldmann 3-mirror lens. Bacte rial growth was observed in 47 (61.8%) cultures from conjunctival swabs and in 32 (42.1%) cultures from corneal contact instruments. The data demonstr ate that a careful disinfection of these instruments is indispensable in pr eventing bacterial agent transmission.
