Abstract
Experimental evidence is reported on bound multiphonon states in cryst al N2O. In the region of 3 omega(3) (similar or equal to 6600-6800 cm( -1)) and omega(1) + omega(2) + omega(3) (similar or equal to 4050-4200 cm(-1)) vibrational transitions, excitations corresponding to free an d localized phonon states are observed. Renormalized phonon densities are calculated in agreement with experimental data. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science B.V.
